New York still-life painter Richard Baker has been hunting among tottering stacks of used books in second hand bookshops for years. He has found this selection perfectly perused paperbacks of classic novels to paint in all their dog-eared glory, his guiding philosophy for the project being "as our personalities are changed by books, so too do they absorb impressions of our lives". Originally painted in gouache, these loving portraits of readers' everyday companions now make beautiful notecards.
Boxed set includes 12 notecards and 12 envelopes, along with a leaflet by Richard Baker explaining the history and philosophy of his project.
Box: 14 x 18 x 4.5 cm
