Conklin Mark Twain Crescent Filler Fountain Pen
An amazing throwback to when fountain pens were the latest new fad! The Conklin Pen Company, established in the USA in 1898, changed the writing industry forever when it patented the world's first "self-filling pen", known as the Crescent Filler. One of this pen's most famous fans was the renowned author, Mark Twain, who said in a 1903 letter to Conklin "I prefer it to ten other fountain pens because it carries its filler in its own stomach and I can't mislay it, even by art and intention. Also I prefer it because it is a profanity-saver: it cannot roll off the desk."
Now hand-made in Florence, Italy, this homage to the original fountain pen still uses the crescent filling mechanism patented over 100 years ago to effortlessly fill the inbuilt ink reservoir from a bottle of ink. Each pen is engraved with Mark Twain’s distinctive signature along the band and a spring loaded rocker clip originally patented in 1916. An excellent addition to a fountain pen lover's collection, or as a gift for any writer.
Comes in a Conklin presentation box. Fitted with a cushion point steel nib in medium - please contact us if you wish to enquire about the availability of other nib widths.
