This fearsome marble tiger is modelled after an 1831 sculpture by artist Antoine-Louis Barye. To prepare for his sculptures, Barye used to sketch from life at the menagerie of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, and was celebrated for the compelling physical accuracy of his works.
This piece is made in Staffordshire using over 90% natural Carrara marble. Each copy is dry cast and then finished by hand, giving it both the look and feel of an original. This tiger is full of life and personality, and looks beautiful on a study shelf.
